Narrative:

Facility was once again short staffed. 5 positions: north radar, south radar, radar handoff, flight data, ground control, local control with only 4 controllers in facility. Breaks were limited, radar handoff, as typical was unmanned. Traffic load was light to mod. I was ripping strips for both sectors, and was also climbing an aircraft wbound across the path of another IFR aircraft. Upon completion of the above mentioned situation. I ripped several strips out of the printing machine and turned back to my radar scope. At that time, I noticed the aircraft in question departing my airspace without a handoff. Once the handoff was completed, albeit late, I began to breath again. Moral of the story. Don't set up situations you need to watch, because there's always something else you should/could be doing.
