Narrative:
Crowded pattern at tdf. 4-5 planes touch and go. I'm on base leg attempting to teach my student to land. Cleared to my right and there was a strange homebuilt pusher propeller type plane from a straight-in final, unannounced. I grabbed controls and avoided the obvious conflict. Much chatter on the radios. Doubt if the pilot ever knew. Good lesson for my student about the hazard of straight-in finals.
