Narrative:

I was cleared to downwind right hand pattern for landing at sdl to land on runway 21. As I was on downwind tower advised another small aircraft Y that he was #2 to land. As I was on final about 1/2 mi out from the numbers, tower cleared another aircraft to taxi into position for takeoff, and as I passed over the numbers the aircraft cleared to taxi was in position. I was flying an older small aircraft X with locked tail wheel and johnson bar for brakes. After landing I was taxiing slowly down the runway to the next available exit. Tower asked if I had a problem. I said, 'no, but I have a tail wheel airplane which is blind while taxiing.' he stated that I had landing traffic behind me and to give way to the right off the runway. In so doing I struck a runway marker sign which was impossible to see from the cockpit. The resulting damage to my aircraft was a manufacturers estimate of 3500'. This consists of 4' broken from each time of a wooden propeller. I might mention that this only my second minor accident in 43 yrs of flying. It is my personal opinion that I was pressured by the urgency of his communication, and too close spacing of landing aircraft. He should have had the other landing aircraft go around.

Title: SMA LANDED OVER THE TOP OF ACFT ON RWY. HIT RWY SIGN LEAVING RWY.

Narrative: I WAS CLRED TO DOWNWIND RIGHT HAND PATTERN FOR LNDG AT SDL TO LAND ON RWY 21. AS I WAS ON DOWNWIND TWR ADVISED ANOTHER SMA Y THAT HE WAS #2 TO LAND. AS I WAS ON FINAL ABOUT 1/2 MI OUT FROM THE NUMBERS, TWR CLRED ANOTHER ACFT TO TAXI INTO POS FOR TKOF, AND AS I PASSED OVER THE NUMBERS THE ACFT CLRED TO TAXI WAS IN POS. I WAS FLYING AN OLDER SMA X WITH LOCKED TAIL WHEEL AND JOHNSON BAR FOR BRAKES. AFTER LNDG I WAS TAXIING SLOWLY DOWN THE RWY TO THE NEXT AVAILABLE EXIT. TWR ASKED IF I HAD A PROB. I SAID, 'NO, BUT I HAVE A TAIL WHEEL AIRPLANE WHICH IS BLIND WHILE TAXIING.' HE STATED THAT I HAD LNDG TFC BEHIND ME AND TO GIVE WAY TO THE RIGHT OFF THE RWY. IN SO DOING I STRUCK A RWY MARKER SIGN WHICH WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE FROM THE COCKPIT. THE RESULTING DAMAGE TO MY ACFT WAS A MANUFACTURERS ESTIMATE OF 3500'. THIS CONSISTS OF 4' BROKEN FROM EACH TIME OF A WOODEN PROP. I MIGHT MENTION THAT THIS ONLY MY SECOND MINOR ACCIDENT IN 43 YRS OF FLYING. IT IS MY PERSONAL OPINION THAT I WAS PRESSURED BY THE URGENCY OF HIS COM, AND TOO CLOSE SPACING OF LNDG ACFT. HE SHOULD HAVE HAD THE OTHER LNDG ACFT GO AROUND.
