Narrative:

We had been cleared to 11000' by first controller. Passing 12000' the controller advised us to stop descent and climb to 13000'. He also pointed out the traffic in conflict. We had the aircraft in sight as we climbed. This could have been a real close near miss had the second controller not caught the mistake.
