Narrative:
We were landing on 28R. Shortly after touchdown; tower cleared a regional jet for takeoff on runway 1R. We applied max braking and stopped prior to the intersection of 28R/1R. Controller advised us not to stop on an active runway. During follow up phone call; no indication was given by ATC that this was a problem. I was told this is standard procedure for sfo.
