Narrative:

We were heading 120 degree on a vector for an approach to 22R at ewr. When we passed through the 22R localizer and by the teterboro VOR, I asked the copilot to advise approach of our heading and altitude. We were told to turn to 310 degree heading and change frequency. They re-sequenced us for an approach and landing at ewr. Prior to our 310 degree heading assignment traffic was reported at 2 mi and 12 O'clock, on approach to lga.
