Narrative:
RA with flight instruments indicating [TCAS commanding] over a 3;000 FPM descent. Clear of conflict at FL345; returned to FL360. ATC stated there was no aircraft within 100 NM of our flight. RA appeared again in a few minutes; confirmed again with ATC that no aircraft were near us. Sent a mrm code to maintenance stating TCAS was unreliable.

Title: An A320 flight crew reported a false alert from TCAS that commanded a 3;500 FPM descent from their cruise altitude of FL360. ATC reported no traffic within 100 NM.
Narrative: RA with flight instruments indicating [TCAS commanding] over a 3;000 FPM descent. Clear of conflict at FL345; returned to FL360. ATC stated there was no aircraft within 100 NM of our flight. RA appeared again in a few minutes; confirmed again with ATC that no aircraft were near us. Sent a MRM code to Maintenance stating TCAS was unreliable.
