Narrative:

We made a normal full stop landing with my student. We landed straight down the centerline and we were slowing down to exit at the next taxiway. My student started to turn to follow a yellow taxi line and before I could say anything we had made a turn. This turn was to an unlit part of runway 11-29 at gvl; so when we finished turning we were looking at the grass. I took control of the airplane knowing there was an airplane on final turned the plane back on to the runway taxied down to the next taxiway and exited. At no point did our aircraft leave the runway. This did create a delay on the runway that still seemed to be no factor. I think that the airport lighting and signs led to my student turning down that line even though the airport is not well lit through that area. At no point did we or any other aircraft come into danger.

Title: An Instructor pilot reported that after exiting GVL Runway 5 beyond Runway 11/29 at night his student attempted to taxi off the large ramp which he attributed to poor signage and lighting prior to entering the terminal ramp.
