Narrative:

On approach into atlanta; we received stab trim and mach trim caution messages. Shortly after; we received an autopilot pitch caution message and the autopilot disconnected. We tried to re-engage the stab trim; mach trim and autopilot. They would not stay engaged. Additional back pressure was needed to maintain required pitch. Stabilizer trim caution procedure was performed in QRH and landing was uneventful. [We experienced an] unexpected controllability issue at a critical phase of flight at the world's busiest airport: resultant loss of autopilot during that time and ATC issuing several heading; airspeed and altitude changes as well as clearing us for the approach. Extra back pressure required for pitch coupled with loss of autopilot resulted in distractions and delayed responses to ATC requests. Running the QRH was a distraction as well. Need to be more responsive to the pitch required to fly the airplane without the trim. [We need] more flying without autopilot/flight director.
