Narrative:

After completing the before landing checklist; approximately 700 ft AGL on approach; we got an unsafe nose landing gear (nlg) indication (red light and horn). We discontinued the approach and began a go-around while asking tower to visually check the status of our nose gear. They informed us that it appeared down. As well; the cockpit nlg indicator was extended indicating safe gear. During the climb portion of our go-around; the light turned back green; also indicating safe gear. We declared an emergency and returned to land uneventfully; while having tower do a visual re-check on short final.
