Narrative:

I was working east radar in the TRACON. I had several practice approach aircraft on their own navigation and on radar vectors; as well as an IFR departure and an IFR overflight. The radar scope went black and I tried to separate my aircraft by non-radar procedures and altitude. I was advised to fill out a report on the unsafe situation created by the sudden loss of radar. It has gone out several times since this incident; on each subsequent day. It went out yesterday; though it did come back within several seconds. Maintenance seems to not know what is causing the radar outages. I would not know how to prevent the re-occurrence of this event; save for updating the old radar equipment.
