Narrative:

During the morning runway check; a vehicle was inspecting runway 26R. I side stepped an MD88 from runway 26R to runway 26L. There was a tug holding short of runway 26L at taxiway C. As the MD88 was rolling past taxiway C with all three wheels on the ground; the amass alerted that there was a vehicle on runway 26L; there was not. I reported the incident for the log. Since then; there have been at least nine other incidents of the amass alerting erroneously; all involving a tug holding short of runway 26L or 26R and either an arriving or departing aircraft. The amass needs to be fixed immediately.
