Narrative:

I was the captain and pilot flying. During the takeoff roll; just prior to 80 KTS; I noticed an abnormal airspeed indication on the first officer's airspeed indicator with subsequent total failure. I aborted the takeoff and advised the tower we did not need assistance. We taxied back to a gate and called for maintenance. An avionics technician removed and replaced the faulty indicator and said it was abnormally hot.we pushed back from the gate to continue the flight; but the APU failed during engine start and we had to be towed back to the gate. The flight attendants and I went illegal due to duty day length and had to be replaced with new crew members.
