Narrative:
We got a gear unsafe indication on takeoff. [We] followed the QRH; contacted dispatch and maintenance; and were instructed to return to the departure airport for repairs. Burned off 8;000 pounds of fuel; declared an emergency; and had the fire trucks standing by for precaution and landed without incident.while taxiing in; a female passenger seemed to hyperventilate and paramedics met the aircraft at the gate. She was fine and I believe left on the next flight.
