Narrative:

Fnt 'ATIS H, XA50 EDT WX, wind 280 at 7 KTS, visual approach runways 27 and 36.' crew contacted fnt approach with information hotel at approximately XC10 EDT. Received vectors for visual runway 36. When we broke out of clouds, we were not in a position to land straight in runway 36. Requested visual runway 27. We were immediately cleared for left traffic visual runway 27 and cleared to land. Landing was uneventful, except for the fact that the ground speed seemed high for a 95 KT airspeed. As we taxied clear we requested a wind check, '060 at 15 KTS.' we asked why we weren't informed of such. Tower supervisor said they 'dropped the ball.' proceeded to gate west/O further incident.
