Narrative:
We were cleared via the ruudy two SID. Climb heading 240 to intercept 260 course to wentz. Cross wentz at 1;500; then via 280 track to tasca; cross tasca at 2;000 or assigned by ATC. Prior to takeoff we selected navigation and VNAV; autopilot was on the pilot flying side. 2;000 ft sent in the window.after take off the autopilot was engaged. We noticed over wentz that the autopilot did not capture 1;500. At 1;800 ft the pilot flying disconnected the autopilot and manually directed the aircraft back to 1;500. New york replied '1;500 in this sector; not 2;000 'I replied 'roger'. New york then replied 'ok; now climb to 8;000 ft'.when I am 'the pilot flying' I use the set 1;500 ft technique to wentz on the ruudy two departure. And then set 2;000 ft to cross over tasca.
