Narrative:

Received pylon rib cover assembly from [stores] parts with an FAA-8130 tag and disposition report as certifying this part as serviceable. Upon inspecting part; as we as a group at nacelle shop have to further inspect parts to ensure proper procedures and materials were used to repair parts that contract maintenance provider; repair station X; repairs [for us]. Reputation of maintenance provider X; as a repair station; is below current standards and every part received from them must be inspected further. The [repair] materials used and [maintenance manuals (M/M)] references used as stated in disposition report are an indication of how [contract] vendors are mass producing repairs that don't apply and require some thought. Repair station X used seal part number # XXX when the book calls for seal part number 228-50753-102. The rivets repair station X used were [corrosion resistant] cr3212-4 type rivets. The book [component maintenance manual (cmm)] calls for ms20601-4 type rivets; which would call for a different reference than the one repair station X used. Also; repair station X used seal part number cvc10091-66; when [cmm] book calls for 228-50793-139. Repair station X used the reference for cherry max rivets structural repair manual (srm) chapter 51-42-13 when the seal has no rivets and is secured in place in accordance with srm chapter 51-22-00. Also; the reference for a paint primer is in cmm chapter 20-25-06 and repair station X used the reference for a torque box; which is in cmm 78-30-00. I also question the validity of repair station X's srm reference; that repair station X uses to repair parts that deviate from the cmm. The repair station's srm needs to be looked over with a fine tooth comb as they are using the whole srm and not just a specific repair. Don't use repair station X as a [contract] vendor! These parts can be repaired by current nacelle shop employees. Part in question will remain here until this issue gets resolved or until directed otherwise by management.
