Narrative:

Flying home from a cross country with a student we smelled a burning smell coming from the electrical system of the aircraft. As a precaution we shut down all electrical equipment and decided to land at ZZZ1. Upon reaching the pattern at ZZZ1 I turned the radio of the aircraft back on and transmitted a radio call on CTAF. However; the radio was still tuned to ZZZ tower frequency. I realized my mistake and tuned to ZZZ1 CTAF. Upon reaching ZZZ1 there were fire trucks to meet our aircraft. Landing was uneventful and there was no obvious damage to the aircraft.
