Narrative:
While the student was attempting a soft field takeoff; the aircraft became airborne prematurely at a high angle of attack. Before a successful recovery was made; the right wing scraped the runway causing minor cosmetic only damage. A much greater awareness of the low airspeed handling characteristics of the 'T-tail tomahawk is a must.

Title: When the student pilot over rotated the PA-38 Tomahawk on takeoff the right wing dropped and scraped the ground causing cosmetic damage.
Narrative: While the student was attempting a soft field takeoff; the aircraft became airborne prematurely at a high angle of attack. Before a successful recovery was made; the right wing scraped the runway causing minor cosmetic only damage. A much greater awareness of the low airspeed handling characteristics of the 'T-Tail Tomahawk is a must.
