Narrative:

Associate radar 'slant ok'd' a data block from the ont sector thinking he was starting track on a departure off of yyz southbound; when he realized that he has picked the wrong call sign; he canceled the flight plan on the aircraft instead of looking to see who the aircraft belonged to. The radar controller then looked over and saw what was going on; and the process began with the controller in charge giving orders to start a track with the call sign then put in a vp with the code for quick flight plan processing; then hand offs and coordination was taken care of. Recommendation; if you have to 'slant ok' a data block you need to check all your information before doing so.
