Narrative:
On 9/fri/88, about XA45, my wife and I were flying north on 167 degree radial, approximately 20 DME mi south of tonopah VOR (117.2). I was skirting the R-4807 restr area on the west side when two military planes came along on either side at our altitude and passed. This had never happened to me before in over 20 years of flying. After we reached our destination, I was telling a friend about our experience, and he said maybe they would contend that you penetrated the edge of the restr area and it might be a good idea to file a NASA report.

Title: SMA TRYING TO FLY ALONG WEST EDGE OF R4807 APPARENTLY SPILLED INTO RESTRICTED AREA AND WAS INTERCEPTED BY MIL FGT FLT.
Narrative: ON 9/FRI/88, ABOUT XA45, MY WIFE AND I WERE FLYING N ON 167 DEG RADIAL, APPROX 20 DME MI S OF TONOPAH VOR (117.2). I WAS SKIRTING THE R-4807 RESTR AREA ON THE WEST SIDE WHEN TWO MIL PLANES CAME ALONG ON EITHER SIDE AT OUR ALT AND PASSED. THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE IN OVER 20 YEARS OF FLYING. AFTER WE REACHED OUR DEST, I WAS TELLING A FRIEND ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCE, AND HE SAID MAYBE THEY WOULD CONTEND THAT YOU PENETRATED THE EDGE OF THE RESTR AREA AND IT MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO FILE A NASA RPT.
