Narrative:

At XA05Z en route to sfo, 30 mins late, with a departure window of XA11Z to XA13Z. Prior to leaving gate, F/a's complied with policy and notified us that all passenger were seated and carry on items secured. Reaching end of runway we were instructed to hold short and about 30 seconds later cleared into position. I told the 'C' F/a to close the cockpit door and she said there was on F/a still standing. Although we had been cleared for takeoff, we continued to hold in position. I then heard the F/a say that they were ready. The cockpit door was then closed and the captain gave the 3 bell signal instead of a departure announcement. We then started takeoff roll. We complied with all FAA and company regulations as stated. The captain later informed me that an FAA inspector sitting in the back, told him that the F/a's were standing during takeoff roll and that he was going to make a written report of the incident. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: confirmed the flight crew had been advised by the cabin attendant they were ready for takeoff. Suspect that as the power was coming up the cabin attendant in the back were just getting in their seats. FAA was not operating in an official capacity but returning to home base. Has not heard anything further from company or FAA. Report was made to the company.

PRIOR TO LEAVING GATE, F/A'S COMPLIED WITH POLICY AND NOTIFIED US THAT ALL PAX WERE SEATED AND CARRY ON ITEMS SECURED. REACHING END OF RWY WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO HOLD SHORT AND ABOUT 30 SECS LATER CLRED INTO POS. I TOLD THE 'C' F/A TO CLOSE THE COCKPIT DOOR AND SHE SAID THERE WAS ON F/A STILL STANDING. ALTHOUGH WE HAD BEEN CLRED FOR TKOF, WE CONTINUED TO HOLD IN POS. I THEN HEARD THE F/A SAY THAT THEY WERE READY. THE CAPT LATER INFORMED ME THAT AN FAA INSPECTOR SITTING IN THE BACK, TOLD HIM THAT THE F/A'S WERE STANDING DURING TKOF ROLL AND THAT HE WAS GOING TO MAKE A WRITTEN RPT OF THE INCIDENT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: CONFIRMED THE FLT CREW HAD BEEN ADVISED BY THE CABIN ATTENDANT THEY WERE READY FOR TKOF. SUSPECT THAT AS THE PWR WAS COMING UP THE CABIN ATTENDANT IN THE BACK WERE JUST GETTING IN THEIR SEATS. FAA WAS NOT OPERATING IN AN OFFICIAL CAPACITY BUT RETURNING TO HOME BASE. HAS NOT HEARD ANYTHING FURTHER FROM COMPANY OR FAA. RPT WAS MADE TO THE COMPANY.
