Narrative:

On originating flight from ZZZ to ZZZ1; we boarded 24 adults and 4 children. I completed my safety demonstration and called the flight deck and said 'cabin secure for takeoff.' the captain told me that we were going to taxi out and we had a hold time of 40 mins because of flow control into ZZZ1. I acknowledged and hung up. We taxied for a few mins and then parked. The captain made an announcement to the passenger. I called the flight deck and asked if ped's could be used in the meantime. The captain replied 'let them use electronics for 20 mins or so and then we will go.' during my water service; I was chatting with passenger who raised their concerns about their connecting flts. Passenger were using laptops and games with their tray tables down. A father got up out of his seat and took his small son to use the lavatory; then other passenger got up out of their seats and followed suit. The first officer called me and asked me to stow my jumpseat because she needed to use the lavatory. I stowed it and the first officer came out of the flight deck and headed to the back of the aircraft. She had to wait for a passenger to come out of the lavatory. The first officer went back into the flight deck and made an announcement. It was muffled and I could not make out what was said. I was standing next to row 12 and asked a lady passenger what was said. She said that she didn't understand it either. Suddenly the aircraft moved and increases speed. I was in the back of the aircraft and away from my interphone; so I shouted instructions to everyone to fasten seatbelts turn off ped's and put their tray tables up. There was not enough time for me to reach my jumpseat safely before the aircraft took off; so I secured myself in row 14. Passenger were looking back at me with surprise. I assumed a rear jumpseat brace position and observed the cabin. When it was safe to get up; I checked all of the passenger and the cabin. After sterile cockpit; I called the flight deck and told the captain that I was not in my jumpseat and I did not have time to secure the cabin for takeoff. His response was 'I told you we were taking off in 40 mins.' the first officer said she made an announcement. I told her that the announcement was muffled and I did not understand it. I advised the captain that the passenger were asking me questions and making comments about the takeoff. I asked him if he thought I should fill out a report. He said that he didn't know if it was necessary; but if I decided to do so; to let him know so that he could fill out a report as well. After landing and deplaning in ZZZ1; we had a debriefing. The captain told me that the fasten seatbelt sign was on when we were on the ground in ZZZ. I told him that it was my mistake and that I should have called him to let him know that passenger were up using the lavatory. I told him that I had expected a call from him before takeoff to allow me time to secure the cabin. The captain said 'I told you that we had a definite takeoff time in 40 mins.' the first officer tested the PA and it came through clearly; however; we were all standing in the galley of the aircraft with the engines shut off. During the announcement in ZZZ I was standing next to the lavatory in the rear of the aircraft and it's noisy in the back. I told the captain that the passenger had made comments to me such as 'that was fast' and 'there was no warning.' we had a jumpseating pilot in the cabin who said there was no communication between the cockpit and the cabin. Recommendations: communication between the cockpit and the cabin are paramount. During irregular operations; CRM is vital to the safe operation of the flight.

Title: A FLT ATTENDANT WAS STANDING FOR TKOF AND THE PAX PED'S OUT AFTER AN EXTENSIVE GND DELAY DURING WHICH PED'S WERE ALLOWED.

Narrative: ON ORIGINATING FLT FROM ZZZ TO ZZZ1; WE BOARDED 24 ADULTS AND 4 CHILDREN. I COMPLETED MY SAFETY DEMONSTRATION AND CALLED THE FLT DECK AND SAID 'CABIN SECURE FOR TKOF.' THE CAPT TOLD ME THAT WE WERE GOING TO TAXI OUT AND WE HAD A HOLD TIME OF 40 MINS BECAUSE OF FLOW CTL INTO ZZZ1. I ACKNOWLEDGED AND HUNG UP. WE TAXIED FOR A FEW MINS AND THEN PARKED. THE CAPT MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE PAX. I CALLED THE FLT DECK AND ASKED IF PED'S COULD BE USED IN THE MEANTIME. THE CAPT REPLIED 'LET THEM USE ELECTRONICS FOR 20 MINS OR SO AND THEN WE WILL GO.' DURING MY WATER SVC; I WAS CHATTING WITH PAX WHO RAISED THEIR CONCERNS ABOUT THEIR CONNECTING FLTS. PAX WERE USING LAPTOPS AND GAMES WITH THEIR TRAY TABLES DOWN. A FATHER GOT UP OUT OF HIS SEAT AND TOOK HIS SMALL SON TO USE THE LAVATORY; THEN OTHER PAX GOT UP OUT OF THEIR SEATS AND FOLLOWED SUIT. THE FO CALLED ME AND ASKED ME TO STOW MY JUMPSEAT BECAUSE SHE NEEDED TO USE THE LAVATORY. I STOWED IT AND THE FO CAME OUT OF THE FLT DECK AND HEADED TO THE BACK OF THE ACFT. SHE HAD TO WAIT FOR A PAX TO COME OUT OF THE LAVATORY. THE FO WENT BACK INTO THE FLT DECK AND MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT. IT WAS MUFFLED AND I COULD NOT MAKE OUT WHAT WAS SAID. I WAS STANDING NEXT TO ROW 12 AND ASKED A LADY PAX WHAT WAS SAID. SHE SAID THAT SHE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND IT EITHER. SUDDENLY THE ACFT MOVED AND INCREASES SPD. I WAS IN THE BACK OF THE ACFT AND AWAY FROM MY INTERPHONE; SO I SHOUTED INSTRUCTIONS TO EVERYONE TO FASTEN SEATBELTS TURN OFF PED'S AND PUT THEIR TRAY TABLES UP. THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH TIME FOR ME TO REACH MY JUMPSEAT SAFELY BEFORE THE ACFT TOOK OFF; SO I SECURED MYSELF IN ROW 14. PAX WERE LOOKING BACK AT ME WITH SURPRISE. I ASSUMED A REAR JUMPSEAT BRACE POS AND OBSERVED THE CABIN. WHEN IT WAS SAFE TO GET UP; I CHKED ALL OF THE PAX AND THE CABIN. AFTER STERILE COCKPIT; I CALLED THE FLT DECK AND TOLD THE CAPT THAT I WAS NOT IN MY JUMPSEAT AND I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO SECURE THE CABIN FOR TKOF. HIS RESPONSE WAS 'I TOLD YOU WE WERE TAKING OFF IN 40 MINS.' THE FO SAID SHE MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT. I TOLD HER THAT THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MUFFLED AND I DID NOT UNDERSTAND IT. I ADVISED THE CAPT THAT THE PAX WERE ASKING ME QUESTIONS AND MAKING COMMENTS ABOUT THE TKOF. I ASKED HIM IF HE THOUGHT I SHOULD FILL OUT A RPT. HE SAID THAT HE DIDN'T KNOW IF IT WAS NECESSARY; BUT IF I DECIDED TO DO SO; TO LET HIM KNOW SO THAT HE COULD FILL OUT A RPT AS WELL. AFTER LNDG AND DEPLANING IN ZZZ1; WE HAD A DEBRIEFING. THE CAPT TOLD ME THAT THE FASTEN SEATBELT SIGN WAS ON WHEN WE WERE ON THE GND IN ZZZ. I TOLD HIM THAT IT WAS MY MISTAKE AND THAT I SHOULD HAVE CALLED HIM TO LET HIM KNOW THAT PAX WERE UP USING THE LAVATORY. I TOLD HIM THAT I HAD EXPECTED A CALL FROM HIM BEFORE TKOF TO ALLOW ME TIME TO SECURE THE CABIN. THE CAPT SAID 'I TOLD YOU THAT WE HAD A DEFINITE TKOF TIME IN 40 MINS.' THE FO TESTED THE PA AND IT CAME THROUGH CLEARLY; HOWEVER; WE WERE ALL STANDING IN THE GALLEY OF THE ACFT WITH THE ENGS SHUT OFF. DURING THE ANNOUNCEMENT IN ZZZ I WAS STANDING NEXT TO THE LAVATORY IN THE REAR OF THE ACFT AND IT'S NOISY IN THE BACK. I TOLD THE CAPT THAT THE PAX HAD MADE COMMENTS TO ME SUCH AS 'THAT WAS FAST' AND 'THERE WAS NO WARNING.' WE HAD A JUMPSEATING PLT IN THE CABIN WHO SAID THERE WAS NO COM BTWN THE COCKPIT AND THE CABIN. RECOMMENDATIONS: COM BTWN THE COCKPIT AND THE CABIN ARE PARAMOUNT. DURING IRREGULAR OPS; CRM IS VITAL TO THE SAFE OP OF THE FLT.
