Narrative:

I was the first officer on a widebody transport on a visual approach to runway 25R at lax about 6 mi out about 2000'. We had been switched to tower from approach. Air carrier B was on a right base for runway 24R or left. We observed air carrier B overshoot and converge on our approach path so began a left turn as they were about 1000' from us still converging and advised tower we were turning. As we started our turn we saw the air carrier C commuter turbo propeller slightly ahead of us and about 400' to our left. We leveled out to stay above air carrier C until air carrier B made their right turn back to runways 24. Tower advised us at that time that air carrier B's wing was up, so should be getting out of our way. We then continued our approach and landed. This overshoot of the runway 24's occurs every day at lax, usually because of poor visibility and lack of any helpful navaids to do this kind of a visual approach. The runway 24 localizer is too narrow to prevent an overshoot at the base to final turn. A VOR radial to track to the runway 24 side would be most helpful considering the number of arrs from over santa monica. The stadium visual approach could easily accommodate this reference to a VOR radial.

Title: MLG OVERSHOOTS TURN ONTO FINAL CAUSING CONFLICT WITH AND BETWEEN 2 OTHER ACFT.

Narrative: I WAS THE F/O ON A WDB ON A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 25R AT LAX ABOUT 6 MI OUT ABOUT 2000'. WE HAD BEEN SWITCHED TO TWR FROM APCH. ACR B WAS ON A RIGHT BASE FOR RWY 24R OR L. WE OBSERVED ACR B OVERSHOOT AND CONVERGE ON OUR APCH PATH SO BEGAN A LEFT TURN AS THEY WERE ABOUT 1000' FROM US STILL CONVERGING AND ADVISED TWR WE WERE TURNING. AS WE STARTED OUR TURN WE SAW THE ACR C COMMUTER TURBO PROP SLIGHTLY AHEAD OF US AND ABOUT 400' TO OUR LEFT. WE LEVELED OUT TO STAY ABOVE ACR C UNTIL ACR B MADE THEIR RIGHT TURN BACK TO RWYS 24. TWR ADVISED US AT THAT TIME THAT ACR B'S WING WAS UP, SO SHOULD BE GETTING OUT OF OUR WAY. WE THEN CONTINUED OUR APCH AND LANDED. THIS OVERSHOOT OF THE RWY 24'S OCCURS EVERY DAY AT LAX, USUALLY BECAUSE OF POOR VIS AND LACK OF ANY HELPFUL NAVAIDS TO DO THIS KIND OF A VISUAL APCH. THE RWY 24 LOC IS TOO NARROW TO PREVENT AN OVERSHOOT AT THE BASE TO FINAL TURN. A VOR RADIAL TO TRACK TO THE RWY 24 SIDE WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL CONSIDERING THE NUMBER OF ARRS FROM OVER SANTA MONICA. THE STADIUM VISUAL APCH COULD EASILY ACCOMMODATE THIS REF TO A VOR RADIAL.
