Narrative:

Contacted crew scheduling via ACARS. Approximately 30 minutes prior to the top of descent I received a message via ACARS to contact crew scheduling. This was my third open trip of the month. So of course I start to get frustrated trying to guess what trip they would put me on. Could it be a domestic trip as I have been sent on many occasions. I'm europe qualified; so I start to wonder. They can't send me over there with two first officers short with the annual 'push to south america.' then I start to get mad that I volunteered 3 trips in december; when I start a 17 day run of reserve for february. So I tell the captain to message and we both get frustrated and wonder about management's recent message that they will stop that practice. Just don't understand how they think this practice does not effect what I'm thinking about on short final!
