Narrative:

Climbing out southbound after a training touch and go on runway 17, we had been cleared for a left downwind, normal pattern altitude is 1700' MSL. Passing through 1200' MSL, approximately 1/2-1 NM south of runway end, I saw traffic at about 10:30 slightly high, heading wbound. I immediately acted to level off the aircraft forcefully pushing the nose over. At the same time I increased the angle of bank (left) in an attempt to pass the traffic to the north. Just seconds after passing through 1200' MSL, we were directed by glenview tower to immediately level off at 1200'. The aircraft reached approximately 1470' before starting a descent back down to 1200'. It was at this point that the traffic, an mdt, 3 engine corp jet, passed directly overhead. The mdt was on a VFR clearance wbound for palwaukee airport, and had been cleared by glenview tower to remain at least 2 mi south of runway 17, at 1900' MSL. The traffic was never passed to us by the tower.

Title: MIL-SPC AND CPR-MDT HAVE CLOSE CALL IN TRAFFIC PATTERN.

Narrative: CLBING OUT SBND AFTER A TRNING TOUCH AND GO ON RWY 17, WE HAD BEEN CLRED FOR A LEFT DOWNWIND, NORMAL PATTERN ALT IS 1700' MSL. PASSING THROUGH 1200' MSL, APPROX 1/2-1 NM S OF RWY END, I SAW TFC AT ABOUT 10:30 SLIGHTLY HIGH, HDG WBOUND. I IMMEDIATELY ACTED TO LEVEL OFF THE ACFT FORCEFULLY PUSHING THE NOSE OVER. AT THE SAME TIME I INCREASED THE ANGLE OF BANK (LEFT) IN AN ATTEMPT TO PASS THE TFC TO THE N. JUST SECS AFTER PASSING THROUGH 1200' MSL, WE WERE DIRECTED BY GLENVIEW TWR TO IMMEDIATELY LEVEL OFF AT 1200'. THE ACFT REACHED APPROX 1470' BEFORE STARTING A DSCNT BACK DOWN TO 1200'. IT WAS AT THIS POINT THAT THE TFC, AN MDT, 3 ENG CORP JET, PASSED DIRECTLY OVERHEAD. THE MDT WAS ON A VFR CLRNC WBOUND FOR PALWAUKEE ARPT, AND HAD BEEN CLRED BY GLENVIEW TWR TO REMAIN AT LEAST 2 MI S OF RWY 17, AT 1900' MSL. THE TFC WAS NEVER PASSED TO US BY THE TWR.
