Narrative:

After we pushed back from the gate we called the north ramp and requested taxi clearance. The north ramp cleared us to taxi to the top of the alley to the north hold line. I began a slower sharp turn (due to my recent upgrade to captain and I was on IOE); between adjoining gates because the two aircraft on those gates were being cleared to push. North ramp asked if we were proceeding to the north hold line; I responded that we were. Ramp then instructed a commuter aircraft to hold for us coming out of the alley; a few seconds later I noticed on the left of my aircraft that the other plane failed to hold. I applied the brakes firmly and both flight attendants were hurt. I am a recently upgraded captain and just becoming familiar with the differences in the braking mechanisms of the different aircraft types in our crj fleet.
