Narrative:

While on approach to ALS (visual approach using ILS runway 2 as backup); at approximately 1;000 ft AGL; myself and my passengers witnessed what appeared to be a small twin depart from the other runway (20). We did not see this aircraft until he was above the horizon and turning left. I had been watching the runway and making position calls on 122.8 (ALS CTAF) every 5 miles or so. I never saw nor heard this aircraft until it was turning out of the pattern.
