Narrative:

Climbing through FL277 we heard a loud thud. We looked at the EICAS and saw #1 engine oil pressure drop to zero. The #1 engine shut down. Performed memory items; emergency checklist and secured #1 engine. Declared an emergency and opted to land at nearest suitable airport. Notified flight attendant and briefed passengers as to what happened and what our intentions were. Proceeded to land without further incident.
