Narrative:
A maintenance action item was found by first officer on walk around. Steel cord on bald tires written up and sent as an maintenance action item. Maintenance sent a message that it was being cf (carried forward) with no maintenance inspection. We questioned this as being a valid/logical/safe resolution and demanded maintenance inspect the tire.

Title: A B757-200 flight crew reported noticing a worn tire on walk around that maintenance wanted to defer without inspection. The Captain demanded an inspection before they departed.
Narrative: A maintenance action item was found by First Officer on walk around. Steel cord on bald tires written up and sent as an maintenance action item. Maintenance sent a message that it was being CF (carried forward) WITH NO MAINTENANCE inspection. We questioned this as being a valid/logical/safe resolution and demanded maintenance inspect the tire.
