Narrative:

While on final approach [we] had a 'baggage smoke' indication about 1700ft AGL. While I was flying [I] told the first officer to run our memory items and press [the] baggage extinguish button. At that time I was dedicated to flying and getting the plane on the ground while asking the first officer to call for emergency and crash fire rescue equipment. Upon landing; [we] taxied off the runway and waited for crash fire rescue equipment to check if any heat in the baggage compartment. At that time the first officer finished with [the checklist]. No heat was detected; we taxied to the gate with crash fire rescue equipment behind us to check the baggage compartment at the gate.

Title: An EMB-145 Flight Crew got a 'Baggage Smoke' alert on short final. They ran the procedure; declared an emergency; landed normally and taxied to the gate after no heat was detected by the CFR crew.
