Narrative:

I became momentarily confused while referencing the taxi diagram in our nos charts for mdw. Taxiways west and M are separated by runway 13C/31C but the letters marking these taxiways are oriented in different directions: M is in a north-up orientation and west is in an east-up orientation. The west flares out a bit wider at the top than the M does at the base but one has to look closely to discern the difference. The signs marking the taxiways are clear; however. This taxiway diagram needs to be edited for the next issuance of the approach charts so that it is clear at a glance which taxiway is M and which is west.
