Narrative:

Two mechanics were working a weekly check. Planning issued the left and right chip detector work cards in the work package. This should not have been done; only one [chip detector card] should be issued per night. We accomplished cards; one mechanic per engine and ran engines for leak check. This is rii required inspection and inspection was never aware of this job; they did not have information the two work cards were being done. Supervisors; leads and inspection were unaware this was an rii job card item. I was notified by our flight safety representative.
