Narrative:

While on approach for landing; we determined that the flap position indicator did not agree with the selected position; but did not show a trailing edge flap asymmetry. We decided the best action was to execute a go around; climb to a safe altitude; determine what further actions to take and configure the aircraft for landing. The go around was accomplished normally with the flaps retracting normally and the flap position indicator always agreeing with the flaps selected. After reaching a safe altitude and reading the trailing edge flap disagree QRH; we determined that it did not apply to our situation because the flaps retracted normally on go around and the flap position indicator agreed with the flaps selected. We asked for a vector back to the airport and the aircraft configured normally with the flap position indicator always agreeing with the selected flap position. We executed a normal landing without further issues.
