Narrative:

Large transport X enroute from dfw to dtw at FL370. Widebody transport Y enroute from lga to lax at FL350. I descended large transport X to FL290 told pilot to give me a good rate to avoid a turn. The aircraft was in confliction. I recognized that from the start but failed to initiate a turn soon enough to keep standard separation. Both aircraft were turned but not enough and too late. Separation was lost and aedp was activated. To keep this from happening again my judgement as a controller needs to (and is and will) improve each day. This error was completely due to poor planning on my part.

Title: LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION WHEN LGT IS DESCENDED THROUGH ALT OF WDB WITH INSUFFICIENT LATERAL SEPARATION.

Narrative: LGT X ENROUTE FROM DFW TO DTW AT FL370. WDB Y ENROUTE FROM LGA TO LAX AT FL350. I DESCENDED LGT X TO FL290 TOLD PLT TO GIVE ME A GOOD RATE TO AVOID A TURN. THE ACFT WAS IN CONFLICTION. I RECOGNIZED THAT FROM THE START BUT FAILED TO INITIATE A TURN SOON ENOUGH TO KEEP STANDARD SEPARATION. BOTH ACFT WERE TURNED BUT NOT ENOUGH AND TOO LATE. SEPARATION WAS LOST AND AEDP WAS ACTIVATED.
