Narrative:
Arriving in tus with approach control; level 10;000; 260 heading; IMC conditions. We had already had the flight attendants seated due to weather and were expecting a visual to runway 11L. The egpws alerted 'terrain terrain'; so I performed terrain avoidance procedures; notified ATC; climbed to 14;000 and was recleared to 9;000. We were in the terminal area with a high work load unable to talk to our flight attendants until on the ground. We continued the visual approach and landed. A flight attendant had gotten up to check on an unaccompanied minor when we performed the terrain avoidance procedure. She was knocked to the ground; but said she was ok.
