Narrative:

Taxi out and takeoff from runway xx appeared to be normal. However; after takeoff the following message was received on ACARS: 'your load closeout has been deleted and is in the process of being updated. Requested new load closeout date prior to takeoff. Please acknowledge message # (xxxx) takeoff/off occurred at XA49Z.' time stamp from message is XA49 and 20 seconds. So the message was sent at or after takeoff. The new load closeout increased cargo weight by 1200 pounds. This increased takeoff weight to 164;958 pounds. Maximum takeoff weight for runway xx was 164.8 so this made our aircraft too heavy for the runway xx takeoff. A system needs to be a place so this situation doesn't happen again.
