Narrative:

Aircraft landed with tray tables down. Cabin items not stowed. F/a's not in assigned position's. Pilots failed to ring call bell to notify F/a's of approach to landing. Problem arose from preoccupation of pilots involved in flying approach to landing in marginal WX conditions. The company procedure normally was to ring call bell when turning on the no smoking sign. Since new rules re smoking have been instituted, the no smoking sign is on at all times (our checklist still reflects notifying F/a's when turning on sign). Possible solution: change the cabin no smoking signs to landing signs or develop entirely new procedures. Unless this is resolved, we can be sure the same incident will happen again.

Title: ACR MLG LANDED WITHOUT THE CABIN BEING SECURED AND WITH THE CABIN ATTENDANTS NOT AT ASSIGNED POSITIONS.

Narrative: ACFT LANDED WITH TRAY TABLES DOWN. CABIN ITEMS NOT STOWED. F/A'S NOT IN ASSIGNED POS'S. PLTS FAILED TO RING CALL BELL TO NOTIFY F/A'S OF APCH TO LNDG. PROB AROSE FROM PREOCCUPATION OF PLTS INVOLVED IN FLYING APCH TO LNDG IN MARGINAL WX CONDITIONS. THE COMPANY PROC NORMALLY WAS TO RING CALL BELL WHEN TURNING ON THE NO SMOKING SIGN. SINCE NEW RULES RE SMOKING HAVE BEEN INSTITUTED, THE NO SMOKING SIGN IS ON AT ALL TIMES (OUR CHKLIST STILL REFLECTS NOTIFYING F/A'S WHEN TURNING ON SIGN). POSSIBLE SOLUTION: CHANGE THE CABIN NO SMOKING SIGNS TO LNDG SIGNS OR DEVELOP ENTIRELY NEW PROCS. UNLESS THIS IS RESOLVED, WE CAN BE SURE THE SAME INCIDENT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.
