Narrative:
After clearing runway; ground control said to taxi F cs. We wrote it down and talked to each other about the taxi guidance. I said I'm turning left on F. (I could see other aircraft coming our direction on same taxiway with no imminent conflict; so I proceeded as directed by ground control.) after we turned onto F; the ground control said; 'I wanted you on G.' I am disappointed that I'm left with the thought that the ground control thinks he said something else. We wrote it down. As an aside; there are a great many new controllers; there are numerous calls with incorrect callsigns being used; and when ATC is queried about the call; they often act as if they said the right callsign; but we can't assume it was for us. I can only think that I should have called the ground controller back and questioned his instructions. I would have done so if there had been a conflict.
