Narrative:
After take-off cleared to fluky intersection. Next controller cleared us to pauki intersection. They wanted us to proceed to fluky not pauki. The first officer read back clearance 3 different times stating pauki. They sound very close together and should not be on same iad plate. If it is confusing for us at times; you can imagine a crew from another country trying to understand which intersection the controller means.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: An A319 flight crew commented after departing IAD the routing includes two intersections with similar sound names: FLUKY and PAUKI. The crew understood that they were cleared to PAUKI but in fact were only cleared to FLUKY.
