Narrative:

At cedar city regional airport (cdc) I taxied out to runway 20 via taxiway a. Wind was calm; runway 20 is calm wind runway below 10kts. After my taxi and run-up checks were completed; I taxied over and held short of runway 20 @ a taxiway. I heard another aircraft that was on short final to land on opposite direction runway 02. I made my position call on CTAF 123.00 that I was holding short of runway 20 @ taxiway a. I saw an aircraft taxi towards runway 02 after the landing traffic aircraft landed and taxied to the ramp but I never heard any radio callouts from it. I again made another CTAF position call stating that I was still holding short of runway 20 @ taxiway a. After another 2 to 3 minutes; I made a call asking if aircraft taking off from runway 02 was ready for takeoff. After no reply; I announced that I was taking runway 20 for immediate departure; and that I would remain in a closed pattern for touch and goes. At about 5 seconds on the takeoff roll; I saw what looked like a t-tail multi-engine aircraft taking off opposite direction of my aircraft. After that moment; I was already at my aircraft rotation speed of 60 mph so I rotated and made an immediate hard right turn to a westerly heading to avoid the other aircraft. I believe there was more than 4000 ft between the two aircraft when I took evasive action and made the right shallow climb turn. In closing; I think I could have been a little more clear on the radio and asked for the other aircrafts position instead of asking if they were ready for takeoff. The other aircraft could have used runway 20 for departure as well; since it's the calm wind runway below 10 KTS. I think in the future; if in doubt; I'll wait longer and get a little more aggressive over the radio to find out where the other aircraft is and what their intentions are. To be fair; I never heard the other aircraft make any CTAF callouts; but I could have talked over them when I was making my callouts.
