Narrative:

Our flight into fll had been cleared to intercept the localizer and descend to 2500' to pionn, then cleared the ILS approach. 3 NM west of pionn, as we were descending through through 2700', approach control called 'traffic at 12:30 less than a mile.' copilot sighted traffic on collision course and said 'pull up.' we cleared the small aircraft by 300-400' vertical, but passed directly over it at which time the controller stated 'traffic has you in sight.' large transport indicating that there was contact with the small aircraft. We asked for and were given his type and tail number. It would appear that if the controllers knew this much they should have known his altitude and warned him away from the approach corridor or at least given me more warning. VFR aircraft in approach corridors at IFR approach assigned altitudes and in hazy VFR WX constitute a definite collision hazard and it would appear to be the controller's responsibility to separate the aircraft when he is aware of the conflict.

Title: NMAC BETWEEN ACR-LGT AND GA-SMA.

Narrative: OUR FLT INTO FLL HAD BEEN CLRED TO INTERCEPT THE LOC AND DSND TO 2500' TO PIONN, THEN CLRED THE ILS APCH. 3 NM W OF PIONN, AS WE WERE DSNDING THROUGH THROUGH 2700', APCH CTL CALLED 'TFC AT 12:30 LESS THAN A MILE.' COPLT SIGHTED TFC ON COLLISION COURSE AND SAID 'PULL UP.' WE CLRED THE SMA BY 300-400' VERT, BUT PASSED DIRECTLY OVER IT AT WHICH TIME THE CTLR STATED 'TFC HAS YOU IN SIGHT.' LGT INDICATING THAT THERE WAS CONTACT WITH THE SMA. WE ASKED FOR AND WERE GIVEN HIS TYPE AND TAIL NUMBER. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT IF THE CTLRS KNEW THIS MUCH THEY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN HIS ALT AND WARNED HIM AWAY FROM THE APCH CORRIDOR OR AT LEAST GIVEN ME MORE WARNING. VFR ACFT IN APCH CORRIDORS AT IFR APCH ASSIGNED ALTS AND IN HAZY VFR WX CONSTITUTE A DEFINITE COLLISION HAZARD AND IT WOULD APPEAR TO BE THE CTLR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SEPARATE THE ACFT WHEN HE IS AWARE OF THE CONFLICT.
