Narrative:

Ground incident. Taxiing into gate, approximately 2' from stop, a slight nudge was felt. Ground crew stated that #1 engine cowling was contacted by a baggage tug. Area had been cleared prior to approaching gate and #1 engine was out of view at time of contact due to jetway. Reportedly, tug operator was on tug at the time and had approached the aircraft on a parallel heading from the left. No injuries were sustained. Recommendations would be to better educate ground veh operators in the use of equipment--stay away from aircraft until completely stopped, and approach slowly with veh under control. Reduce amount of ground veh traffic in gate area when aircraft are taxiing in.
