Narrative:

Taxi in -- ramp area clear to safety lines except belt loader forward to starboard. Conferred with first officer, loader was clear of right side fuselage. Followed guide person into stop position, was signaled to stop, not aware in cockpit that right engine cowling had impacted edge of belt loader. This was the guide person's first parking attempt. Just trained the previous week -- no supervisor in position, belt loader was previously positioned too far aft and unmanned. This was second parking incident for this pilot who was concerned both times but relied on guide person signals to safely park. No more, if concerned I will ask for a tow or suspect ground equipment removal.
