Narrative:

Upon check in with ny approach; I was able to hear approach but they weren't able to hear me. After two minutes they called on guard to contact on 130.2. I then realized my finger brushed the frequency select knob and inadvertently switched us to 130.22. We contacted approach and were given a turn to 020 heading and expedited descent to 4000 ft. Because we monitored guard on 121.50; we were able to be contacted in minimum time. No violation was noted but situation could have been worse if we had not monitored guard. All crews should be reminded to monitor guard especially in high density areas.
