Narrative:

ATIS and tower advised winds were 090 at 10. The tower directed me to land on the runway or taxiway west and then turn right on gulf (westbound). I declined; as this would cause a downwind landing. Tower argued with me and again directed me to a downwind landing; which I refused. I requested a landing from the west to taxiway G; which I have done many times over more than 15 years. Gulf from the west is 080 degrees. Tower approved the landing but cautioned me that I would be making a downwind landing! I asked tower for an updated wind and he said it was 090. I landed on gulf safely; into the wind.
