Narrative:
During pushback; taxi; and takeoff all operations were normal (all applicable checklists were used). Almost immediately after takeoff (between 50-400 ft) the #2 engine hydraulic pump caution light illuminated; we continued in a normal operation until 1;500 ft. We then informed ATC that we would be returning to the field; ran the appropriate non-normal checklist; and declared an emergency. We informed the company; told the flight attendant that we were returning to ZZZ; and told the passengers that it would be a normal landing. We then finished the flight using the appropriate checklist and made a normal landing.
