Narrative:

It has come to my attention that I may have signed for and/or assigned mechanics to perform work on and; therefore; sign for work accomplished on er or ETOPS sensitive aircraft. I had been convinced by supervision that we were not required to be ETOPS qualified and the aircraft were; therefore; not released as er or ETOPS certified. I now understand this was wrong and have completed the ETOPS awareness training required per the general manual. The period of concern is from dec/08 until jan/09 at such time I completed this training. Supplemental information from acn 823496: we were told by management that the aircraft were not being released for er service from here; therefore; all we needed was B777 general class. We were led to believe that we were qualified to perform the work. Supplemental information from acn 823497: I have become aware that I may have signed off an er/ETOPS sensitive maintenance task without being fully qualified. Since we started working on the B777 we were told that the general training was sufficient.
