Narrative:

Shortly after takeoff from ZZZ; approximately 400 ft AGL we received an electrical fault advisory cas message (this message is to advise of a loss of redundancy in the display of the electrical indications). At approximately 4000 ft MSL we started to get some smoke and fumes in the cockpit (we were deiced at ZZZ). The cas message by itself was not a problem; and after getting deiced the smoke and fumes in the cockpit was not unusual; but when they both came at the same time we felt that the safest thing to do was to get the aircraft back on the ground. We declared an emergency and landed without incident. After talking with our maintenance and bombardier; we ran the aircraft for 20 mins. All was normal; the smoke was gone and the electrical fault was no longer there. As a result everyone concluded that the smoke was from the deice and the cas message was nuisance message that just came 'at a bad time.'

Title: A CL30 DEPARTED AFTER BEING DEICED AND HAD SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT CONCURRENT WITH AN ELECTRICAL FAULT CAS ANNUNCIATION. AN EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED WITH A RETURN TO LAND. MAINTENANCE DETERMINED THE SMOKE WAS DE-ICE FLUID AND THE CAS ALERT WAS FALSE.
