Narrative:

I was assigned aircraft to do an overnight check. On the check; I had 3 tires to change -- #3 main and the left and right nose tires. I changed the #3 main tire and mechanic #2 started to change the nose tires. At that time it started raining really hard; so I told mechanic #2 that we would take a break and get some coffee and see if the rain would let up come. When we came back; the rain had let up so we finished installing the nose tires. I installed 1 tire and mechanic #2; the other. I went to get the tire cart. There were 4 main tires and 2 nose tires on the cart and I assumed that they were nose tires. Filled out the parts tags and I signed off the installation. I take full responsibility for the problem. It was my responsibility to check the tags and be sure we installed the proper parts. Supplemental information from acn 815534: I arrived at assigned aircraft to help mechanic #1 change nose tires. Mechanic #1 had already got the nose tires to the aircraft. I changed the #2 and he changed #1 tire. I filled out the parts tag. I did not notice that they were the wrong effectivity.
